Order Update is a restaurant management platform covering point of sale, QR code ordering, table reservations and loyalty. This policy explains what information we collect as you use the platform, how it's used, and how it's protected. By using Order Update, you agree to the practices described below. We may update this policy from time to time, and continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the revised version.
A few definitions
"We," "us" and "our" refer to Order Update. "You," "user" or "customer" refers to anyone using the platform — whether that's a venue owner, a member of staff, or a diner interacting with one of our ordering tools.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies so pages load faster and the experience can be tailored to you. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended without them.
Creating an account
Some parts of Order Update require you to register — for example, to receive updates on new features, get in touch with support, or start using the ordering and reservation tools. If you'd rather not register, we may not be able to offer the full service.
Service availability
We aim to keep Order Update running at all times, but there will occasionally be short periods of downtime for maintenance, upgrades, or circumstances outside our control.
Information we collect
We keep the information we collect to what's needed to run the platform and support your venue:
- Contact details. An email address you give us, or one passed on by an existing customer, so we can send occasional product updates or tips. We won't send more than one such email a month, and every one includes an easy way to unsubscribe.
- Order and venue data. Orders, bookings and the guest details attached to them, such as a name, phone number or delivery address. This information belongs to the venue; we process it so staff can view and manage it as part of the service.
- Staff sign-in details. Staff accounts are set up by the venue, not by us. Where our apps are used, they hold a staff member's name, role and PIN so they can sign in.
- Device and app information. When our apps are installed on a venue's devices, we collect basic device details (device name, type, operating system and app version) along with an ID generated when the device is set up, so it can be linked to the right venue and kept in sync.
- Notification tokens. A token issued by Apple or Google so the app can alert staff to new orders and bookings. This is shared with Google Firebase, which delivers those notifications on our behalf.
- Activity and fault logs. Basic records such as sign-ins, printing results and performance timings, which we use to keep the service reliable and diagnose issues when they come up.
Where our apps use Bluetooth or local network access, it's only to find and connect to printers on the venue's own network — never for tracking or location, and nothing collected this way is sent to us or to anyone else.
How information is used and shared
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it with unrelated third parties. Information may be shared with the service providers and contractors who help us deliver the platform — for example, cloud hosting or notification delivery — strictly to provide the service you're using. We may also disclose information where required by law, or where we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to protect our rights.
We do not use any of the information described above for advertising.
Keeping information secure
Information is stored on cloud infrastructure using business-grade encryption, and access is limited to authorised personnel who need it to provide support or manage billing.
Ownership and use of the platform
Order Update retains all intellectual property rights in the platform, including its software and content. Using the service gives you a limited, non-exclusive licence to use it for its intended purpose — it doesn't transfer any ownership rights to you.
No warranty
The platform is provided on an "as is" basis. While we work to keep it reliable, we can't guarantee it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or suited to every specific requirement.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the platform or to applicable law. Any updates will appear on this page, and continued use of Order Update after a change means you accept the revised terms.
